Adipotide
Synthetic peptidomimetic, CKGGRAKDC-GG-D(KLAKLAK)2.
Adipotide FAQ
What is adipotide?
Adipotide, also known by the abbreviation FTPP, is a synthetic peptidomimetic with two parts: a cyclic targeting motif, CKGGRAKDC, that binds prohibitin on blood vessels supplying white adipose tissue, joined by a Gly-Gly linker to D-(KLAKLAK)2, a membrane-disrupting sequence made of D-amino acids. It was developed by Renata Pasqualini and Wadih Arap at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center using phage-display screening.
What has adipotide been studied for in research?
Published research on adipotide has been preclinical, in mouse and nonhuman primate (rhesus monkey) models, examining vascular targeting: whether a peptide that recognizes a marker on blood vessels of a specific tissue can direct a second, cell-disrupting sequence to that tissue. It is also a reference example of ligand-directed targeting discovered by phage display. Findings in animals do not establish effects in people.
Is adipotide a peptide?
Mostly. Adipotide is a peptidomimetic: a chain of amino acids, but its effector half, (KLAKLAK)2, is made of D-amino acids, the mirror images of the L-amino acids in natural proteins, and the targeting half is cyclized by a disulfide bond. That design makes it resistant to the enzymes that break down ordinary peptides.
Is adipotide FDA approved?
No. Adipotide has not been approved by the FDA or any other drug regulator for any use. It remains an investigational compound described in preclinical research. It is sold here strictly as a research peptide for laboratory use.
Adipotide vs. retatrutide
They are entirely different designs. Adipotide is a peptidomimetic built to bind prohibitin on blood vessels of white adipose tissue and carry a membrane-disrupting D-amino-acid sequence. Retatrutide, like tirzepatide and semaglutide, is a fatty-acid-modified incretin receptor agonist that activates hormone receptors (GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon for retatrutide). Adipotide does not act on these receptors.
Adipotide vs. AOD 9604
They share a research area but not a structure. Adipotide is a two-part peptidomimetic that targets prohibitin on adipose-tissue blood vessels. AOD 9604 is a 16-amino-acid peptide based on the C-terminal end of human growth hormone (residues 177–191 plus an N-terminal tyrosine). They have no sequence in common and were developed by different groups.
What are the identifiers for Adipotide?
Sequence: CKGGRAKDC-GG-D(KLAKLAK)2 (homing motif is cyclized via a disulfide bond; the KLAKLAK repeats are composed of D-amino acids). Match these identifiers against the Certificate of Analysis for the lot.
Does Adipotide come with a Certificate of Analysis?
Yes. Each lot has its own Certificate of Analysis, linked on this page for the current lot of each size: 2mg (98.75% HPLC purity); 5mg (99.87% HPLC purity). Past certificates are archived in the COA library; contact us with the lot number on the vial label if a certificate is missing.
What purity is Adipotide?
98.75% (HPLC, current lot). Purity is measured by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and reported on the lot's Certificate of Analysis.
What sizes of Adipotide are available?
Adipotide is supplied as lyophilized powder in a sealed vial in 2 sizes: 2mg, 5mg. In stock and dispatched in 1–2 business days. Quantity pricing applies automatically at 5+ and 10+ vials of the same size.
How should Adipotide be stored?
Store sealed at −20 °C, dry and protected from light.
