KPV FAQ

What is KPV?

KPV is the tripeptide lysine-proline-valine. It is the C-terminal end (residues 11–13) of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) and has been studied in laboratory models of inflammation. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for research.

BPC-157 vs. KPV

They are unrelated peptides that are often discussed in the same research areas. BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide based on a protein found in gastric juice. KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, the C-terminal end of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). BPC-157 research has focused on nitric oxide and growth-factor signaling in tissue models, while KPV has been studied in cell and rodent models of inflammation. Both are components of the four-peptide blend we sell.

TB-500 vs. KPV

TB-500 refers to synthetic peptides derived from thymosin β4, a 43-amino-acid actin-binding protein, either full length or as a short fragment. KPV is a three-amino-acid peptide (Lys-Pro-Val) from the C-terminal end of α-MSH. They differ in size, origin and the pathways studied: actin dynamics and cell migration for thymosin β4, inflammatory signaling such as NF-κB for KPV. Both are components of the four-peptide blend we sell.

What has KPV been studied for in research?

Published research on KPV has been preclinical, in cell culture and rodent models, mainly of intestinal inflammation (colitis models) and skin inflammation. Studies examine inflammatory signaling such as NF-κB and its uptake into intestinal cells through the PepT1 peptide transporter; unlike its parent hormone α-MSH, part of its activity has been reported to be independent of melanocortin receptors. Findings in cells or animals do not establish effects in people.

Is KPV FDA approved?

No. KPV has not been approved by the FDA or by any other regulator as a medicine. It is a short fragment of a natural hormone, α-MSH, and its published research is preclinical, in cell and rodent models. The material sold here is a research reagent for laboratory use only.

What is KPV made of?

KPV is a tripeptide of three amino acids, L-lysine, L-proline and L-valine (Lys-Pro-Val), with a molecular weight of about 342.4 Da. Its sequence matches residues 11–13 at the C-terminal end of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It is made by chemical synthesis and supplied as a lyophilized powder; the lot's Certificate of Analysis confirms its identity and purity.

How do you reconstitute KPV in the lab?

KPV is a small, water-soluble tripeptide. Let the sealed vial reach room temperature, add a sterile diluent such as bacteriostatic water or sterile water slowly down the inside wall, and swirl gently until dissolved; do not shake. The concentration is the labeled mass divided by the volume added. Label the vial with the date and concentration and keep it refrigerated.

KPV vs. GHK-Cu

Both are tripeptides, but they are unrelated. KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal fragment of α-MSH and is studied in inflammation models. GHK-Cu is Gly-His-Lys bound to copper(II), a complex first isolated from human plasma and studied in copper transport and extracellular-matrix research. Both are components of the four-peptide blend we sell.

KPV vs. glutathione

Both are tripeptides but have nothing else in common. KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a fragment of α-MSH studied in inflammation models. Glutathione (γ-Glu-Cys-Gly) is made in nearly all cells, has an unusual gamma peptide bond and a free thiol group, and is studied in redox biochemistry.

KPV vs. kisspeptin

Despite similar-sounding names, they are unrelated. KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment of α-MSH (Lys-Pro-Val). Kisspeptin-10 is a ten-amino-acid peptide (YNWNSFGLRF-NH2), the C-terminal fragment of kisspeptin, that activates the KISS1 receptor (GPR54) and is studied in reproductive-hormone research. They share no sequence, receptor or research area.

Is KPV in the KLOW blend?

Yes. KPV (10 mg) is the fourth peptide in the composition commonly called KLOW, alongside BPC-157, TB-500 and GHK-Cu. It is the component that distinguishes it from the three-peptide composition commonly called GLOW, which contains no KPV. We sell KPV on its own and both blends, listed by their contents.

LL-37 vs. KPV

LL-37 is a 37-amino-acid cathelicidin, cut from the hCAP18 protein and studied as an antimicrobial peptide of the innate immune system. KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment of α-MSH studied in inflammation models. They differ in size (about 4.5 kDa versus 342 Da), origin and research area, and share no sequence.

Thymosin alpha-1 vs. KPV

Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid acetylated peptide from prothymosin alpha, studied in immunology for T-cell and dendritic-cell signaling. KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment of α-MSH (Lys-Pro-Val), studied in cell and rodent models of inflammation. They differ in size, origin and target, and share no sequence.

Ara-290 vs. KPV

Ara-290 is an 11-amino-acid peptide derived from helix B of erythropoietin and designed for the proposed innate repair receptor. KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment of α-MSH (Lys-Pro-Val) studied in cell and rodent models of inflammation. Both appear in inflammation research, but they come from different parent hormones and act on different targets.

What are the identifiers for KPV?

KPV: molecular formula C16H30N4O4; molecular weight 342.4 g/mol. Sequence: KPV (Lys-Pro-Val). Match these identifiers against the Certificate of Analysis for the lot.

Does KPV come with a Certificate of Analysis?

Yes. Each lot has its own Certificate of Analysis, linked on this page for the current lot of each size: 10mg (99.46% HPLC purity). Past certificates are archived in the COA library; contact us with the lot number on the vial label if a certificate is missing.

What purity is KPV?

99.46% (HPLC, current lot). Purity is measured by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and reported on the lot's Certificate of Analysis.

What sizes of KPV are available?

KPV is supplied as lyophilized powder in a sealed vial: 10mg. In stock and dispatched in 1–2 business days. Quantity pricing applies automatically at 5+ and 10+ vials of the same size.

How should KPV be stored?

Store sealed at −20 °C, dry and protected from light.
