CJC 1295 DAC
Synthetic 30-residue GHRH(1-29) analogue with a maleimidopropionyl (DAC) linker on the C-terminal lysine.
CJC 1295 DAC FAQ
What is CJC-1295 DAC?
CJC-1295 DAC is a synthetic 30-residue analogue of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, GHRH(1-29), with four amino-acid substitutions that resist enzymatic breakdown plus a Drug Affinity Complex: a maleimidopropionyl linker on the C-terminal lysine that bonds to albumin. It was developed by ConjuChem in the 2000s and is not FDA approved.
CJC-1295 DAC vs. no DAC
Both are the same modified 29-amino-acid fragment of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, GHRH(1-29), with four amino-acid substitutions that resist enzymatic breakdown. CJC-1295 DAC adds a Drug Affinity Complex (a maleimidopropionyl linker on the C-terminal lysine) that bonds to albumin, giving it a much longer half-life in research models. The no-DAC version, also called modified GRF(1-29), lacks the linker and is cleared quickly.
Are peptides like ipamorelin, sermorelin and CJC-1295 the same as HGH?
No. HGH is the 191-amino-acid growth hormone itself. Ipamorelin, GHRP-6, hexarelin, sermorelin, CJC-1295 and tesamorelin are much smaller synthetic peptides, called growth hormone secretagogues, that act on pituitary receptors controlling the body's own release of growth hormone: the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) or the GHRH receptor. None of them contains the growth hormone sequence.
Tesamorelin vs. CJC-1295
Both are synthetic GHRH analogues that act on the GHRH receptor, stabilized against enzymatic breakdown in different ways. Tesamorelin is the full 44-amino-acid GHRH sequence with a trans-3-hexenoyl group on the N-terminus. CJC-1295 is the shorter 29-residue fragment with four amino-acid substitutions; the DAC version adds a linker that bonds to albumin. Tesamorelin is an FDA-approved active ingredient; CJC-1295 has never been approved.
Is CJC-1295 the same as sermorelin?
Closely related but not the same. CJC-1295 without DAC (modified GRF 1-29) is the sermorelin sequence, GHRH(1-29), with four amino-acid substitutions: D-alanine at position 2, glutamine at 8, alanine at 15 and leucine at 27. These make it more resistant to enzymatic breakdown. CJC-1295 DAC adds a lysine and a maleimidopropionyl linker that bonds to albumin. All three act on the GHRH receptor.
What has CJC-1295 DAC been studied for in research?
CJC-1295 DAC was designed by ConjuChem to test whether binding a GHRH analogue to albumin could extend its time in circulation. Published work includes preclinical studies of GHRH receptor signaling and early-phase clinical studies in healthy adults in the mid-2000s that measured its pharmacokinetics. Clinical development was later discontinued, and it has never been approved. Findings in cells or animals do not establish effects in people.
Is CJC-1295 FDA approved?
No. Neither CJC-1295 DAC nor CJC-1295 without DAC (modified GRF 1-29) has been approved by the FDA or any other major regulator. CJC-1295 DAC reached early-phase clinical studies before its developer discontinued it. Both are research compounds, sold here for laboratory research use only.
CJC-1295 vs. ipamorelin: are they the same?
No. CJC-1295 is a 29-residue GHRH analogue that acts on the GHRH receptor; the DAC version adds an albumin-binding linker. Ipamorelin is a 5-amino-acid peptide that acts on a different receptor, the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). The two are unrelated in sequence, which is why they are often supplied together: they act on the two separate receptor pathways that regulate pituitary growth hormone release.
MK-677 (ibutamoren) vs. ipamorelin, GHRP-6 and CJC-1295
MK-677 (ibutamoren) is not a peptide: it is a small-molecule ghrelin-receptor agonist developed by Merck in the 1990s. Ipamorelin and GHRP-6 are peptides that act on that same ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), while CJC-1295 acts on a different one, the GHRH receptor. None of these is FDA approved. We do not sell MK-677.
BPC-157 or TB-500 vs. CJC-1295, sermorelin or tesamorelin
These belong to unrelated research areas. BPC-157 (a 15-amino-acid gastric-protein-derived peptide) and TB-500 (derived from the actin-binding protein thymosin β4) are studied in tissue-repair models. CJC-1295, sermorelin and tesamorelin are GHRH analogues acting on the GHRH receptor in the growth hormone axis. They share no sequence, receptor or pathway.
How do you reconstitute CJC-1295 DAC in the lab?
Same as other lyophilized peptides: let the vial reach room temperature, add sterile diluent slowly down the inside wall, and swirl gently until fully dissolved, without shaking. The concentration is the labeled mass (for example 2 mg or 5 mg) divided by the volume of diluent. The maleimide group is reactive and can slowly hydrolyze in water, so label the vial with date and concentration, and keep it refrigerated.
How should CJC-1295 DAC be stored?
Keep the sealed lyophilized vial refrigerated at 2–8 °C, or frozen at −20 °C for long-term storage, protected from light and moisture. Let it reach room temperature before opening. After reconstitution, keep the solution refrigerated, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and use it within the stability window stated on the label or Certificate of Analysis.
Is CJC-1295 DAC legal?
In the United States, CJC-1295 is not a controlled substance and can be lawfully purchased as a research chemical for laboratory use. It is not an approved drug, so selling it for human use or with health claims is unlawful. The World Anti-Doping Agency names CJC-1295 among the GHRH analogues in class S2, prohibited in sport at all times. This is general information, not legal advice.
GHRPs (GHRP-6, hexarelin) vs. GHRH analogues (CJC-1295, sermorelin, tesamorelin)
They act on different receptors. GHRP-6, GHRP-2 and hexarelin are small synthetic hexapeptides that act on the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). CJC-1295, sermorelin and tesamorelin are much longer analogues of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, 29 to 44 amino acids, that act on the GHRH receptor. Both receptors are on pituitary cells and regulate growth hormone release through separate signaling pathways.
IGF-1 LR3 vs. CJC-1295, ipamorelin, sermorelin or tesamorelin
They sit at different points of the growth hormone axis. CJC-1295, sermorelin and tesamorelin (GHRH receptor) and ipamorelin, GHRP-6 and hexarelin (ghrelin receptor) are small peptides that act on pituitary receptors controlling growth hormone release. IGF-1 LR3 acts further downstream: it is an analogue of IGF-1, the hormone produced largely in response to growth hormone, and binds the IGF-1 receptor directly.
Follistatin 344 vs. IGF-1 LR3, CJC-1295 and tesamorelin
They are not in the same pathway. Follistatin is a binding protein that captures activin, myostatin and related TGF-β family ligands outside cells. IGF-1 LR3 acts on the IGF-1 receptor, and CJC-1295 and tesamorelin act on the GHRH receptor in the growth hormone axis. Follistatin is a large recombinant glycoprotein; CJC-1295 and tesamorelin are synthetic peptides.
